A stunning new gravel grid driveway, pathways and associated landscaping works for this lovely rural property in Dorset, expertly installed by the team at Wycliffe Landscapes Ltd.
Project Overview
The Wycliffe Landscapes team were called in to transform this large gravel driveway and add additional pathways for an existing customer in Dorset. The old gravel driveway was looking tired and suffered from various problems associated with loose gravel driveways including loss of gravel, bare patches, ruts and water logging. The existing gravel driveway needed to be re-graded with some sections requiring additional drainage. New metal edgings were added along with several garden paths to connect different areas of the garden and provide better access out into the garden generally. Wycliffe Landscapes had already completed some soft landscaping works at the property including the planting of formal Yew hedges.

Installation Details
This existing gravel driveway was past its sell-by date. It had been installed some time ago with the gravel laid directly on top of the sub base. Over time the surface had deteriorated. The gravel had mixed in with the subbase, it had become uneven and was holding surface water. Wycliffe Landscapes were tasked with fixing the driveway and adding new edgings and pathways. They selected Aluexcel metal edgings supplied by Kinley Systems for edging the driveway and paths and our large format Nidagravel 140 gravel grids to stabilise the gravel surface. Our Nidagravel 140 grids are the largest size gravel grids available in the UK and are ideal for large driveway projects as they ensure speedy installation. Prior to grid installation the entire driveway was re-graded and compacted. New pathways were set out and new sub-bases installed along with the edging system. For the paths, Wycliffe Landscapes used Nidagravel 129 our smaller size grid as it worked well with the pathway dimensions. A 10mm golden shingle was used to fill the grids.
The Finished Results
What a difference a new gravel driveway can make to the look of a property, especially when stabilised with Nidagravel gravel grids. The contrast of the dark green hedges and lawns with the golden gravel and pale rendered facade of the property is a great combination. The result is both simple and elegant - perfectly in keeping with this period property.
