BALI award-winning garden design and build by Graduate Gardeners featuring a sweeping gravel driveway finished with golden gravel.

Project Overview
This project involved the design of the gardens and driveway surrounding this Oxfordshire property. Award-winning garden designer Mark Draper of Graduate Gardeners Ltd based in Gloucestershire created a beautiful garden design for the space in context with the property and rural setting, which was then constructed by the highly skilled Graduate Gardeners landscape team. Mark carefully choose a pallet of materials for the project including a local golden gravel for the surface of the driveway to complement the traditional setting. Nidagravel 130 was selected as the finished thickness of the system worked perfectly with the site levels and also provided maximum stability, low maintenance and ease of use for his clients. The project won the Principal Award in the BALI 2019 domestic garden design and build category for projects between ?60 - ?100k.

Installation Details
On this project, the contractors, Graduate Gardeners, had to deal with some difficult site levels and contend with various drainage issues. The main driveway area already had a tarmac base in position, installed by the builders during the property renovation. Nidagravel grids provided a great solution that enabled the driveway to be re-surfaced with gravel quickly and easily. The depth of the Nidagravel 130 system also worked perfectly with the existing metal driveway edgings already in situ. A gravel surface was the designer's choice of material for the driveway as it complimented the hard landscaping palette of materials along with the soft landscaping scheme, the overall design style and the rural location of the property.

The Finished Results
The Nidagravel 130 grids provided the perfect finish to the sweeping golden gravel driveway leading to the oak framed cart-style garage and the depth of the system worked well as an overlay to the existing tarmac base and the height of the metal lawn edgings. The BALI Awards panel of judges commented - There were difficult site levels for the contractor to work with but the excellent choice of materials, beautiful plant selection, and meticulous attention to detail throughout has resulted in a landscaping masterclass.
