'The Rehearse' show garden at the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show was designed by Emilie Bausager for the Shooting Stars Children's Hospice charity and features our gravel grids donated for this lovely project.

Project Overview
This RHS Tatton Park Flower Show garden was designed by Emilie Bausager. The Rehearse Garden sponsored by the Shooting Star Childrens Hospice charity was awarded a Silver medal and also won the Peoples Choice award for Best Large Garden. The garden is inspired by rhythmic qualities being used in outdoor spaces. A circular, meandering route around the space allows for repetition whilst protruding vents and walls break the organic form of the planted beds. Copper clad water features bring natural sound to the garden and three windows in each wall act as a structural repeated form. The garden is imagined as a classical musicians front garden. An entry to a private house and studio. Tuning of instruments and layers of practiced musical pieces will be heard when sitting in the space. Each element in the garden is placed to reflect these sounds in a visual form to create a balanced, calming garden. The paving and layout were inspired by musical scores, with a rhythmic pattern that makes a stylistic nod to the Copenhagen Conservatoire's rooftop garden.

Installation Details
Building a show garden at an RHS Flower Show is a challenge. The contractors only have a short window of time to build the garden from scratch in readiness for the start of the show. In addition to this short build schedule, they also have to contend with the weather, manage getting materials into the showground and work around BBC film crews shooting footage of the gardens as they progress. The Rehearse garden involved groundworks, footings, sub-base preparation, careful construction of detailed blockwork walls along with a heavy concrete water feature, garden sculpture, and other features, paving, timberwork, cor-ten steel edging, planting trees, shrubs, and flowers, and of course, installing the Nidagravel gravel grids used to stabilise the grey limestone chippings. So a successful show garden is testament to the planning, technical skills, craftsmanship, and sheer determination of the contractors in order to deliver a beautifully detailed garden in readiness for showtime.

The Finished Results
All the hard work has paid off, with the Actual Landscapes team delivering a fantastic show garden for young garden designer, Emilie Bausager. They are worthy winners of a coveted RHS Silver medal and a People's Choice award. We are delighted to have helped this lovely charity show garden project in a small way.
