Gravel Grid Formal Garden & Driveway

Project Ref NCS011
Category Gravel Stabilisation Grids
Product ID Nidagravel 130
Technical 130 Data Sheet

A classic garden and driveway design for this historic farmhouse in Surrey, beautifully constructed by Gardenscapes. Featuring formal gravel paths and driveway stabilised with Nidagravel grids.

Project Overview
This landscape project began when a client in Dorking, contacted Gardenscapes to build a new front garden and driveway to complement the rest of their outdoor space that had originally been designed by Chris Beardshaw with the landscaping works being completed in several phases. The client brief for the next stage was to implement their existing garden design using products and materials to enhance the natural environment and make the driveway and paths more accessible for wheelchairs. In order to achieve a natural surface for the formal path layout and driveway, Neal Markwick, owner of Gardenscapes selected the Nidagravel 130 gravel stabilisation system to ensure the natural golden gravel surface was completely stable and therefore suitable for wheelchair users to access the property from the driveway and to navigate the garden paths easily.

Installation Details
Gardenscapes completed all the groundworks, hard landscaping and planting for the project. The main garden construction included reclaimed brick retaining walls, steps, ramps and gravel pathways with timber edgings. Natural sandstone paving with a rustic appearance was used for the paved areas, step treads and wall copings. A large sandstone patio was installed for a dining and entertainment space with a ramp leading to the gravel path layout. The large new driveway was installed with reclaimed brick edgings. Tree planting and turfing was completed and the borders were cultivated ready for the formal planting scheme to be set out and planted which included Buxus topiary and yew hedges. A Nidagravel grid driveway system was installed to give a firm, free-draining gravel surface to smarten up the entrance to the property. The gravel driveway fits the period of the property and the architecture. It was a cost-effective solution that created an immediate welcoming first impression for family and guests.

The Finished Results
Without a doubt, this project perfectly combines excellence in garden design and landscaping. The Blanks Farm landscaping project is a finalist in the 2022 APL Awards and the judges commented "the standard of entries to the APL Awards 2022 exceeded expectations, and Gardenscapes were picked from a record number of submissions"

Quote from the Landscapers
"Gardenscapes has just finished a five-month project rebuilding part of the garden and replacing the drive. The hard and soft landscape works were completed to a very high standard. Neal and Ainsley were a pleasure to work with, and we would be happy to recommend Gardenscapes"
