Designed to be used with Nidagravel NG040 gravel grids to create expansion joints within large installations to allow for any thermal movement of the grids during periods of very hot weather.
Quick Install Expansion Joints
The NG040 expansion joint units are designed to be used specifically with our Nidagravel NG040 heavy-duty gravel grid system. The NG040 expansion joint unit has been designed to absorb any potential thermal movement across the NG040 gravel grid installation that may occur during periods of extremely hot weather. When installing large stabilised gravel car parks and driveways, etc it is recommended that a 5cm expansion gap is left around the perimeter edge of the installation between the grids and the edging. This can be filled with loose gravel. In addition to this perimeter expansion gap, it is recommended that expansion joints be installed every 10m between grids. The NG040 expansion joint unit is quick and easy to install and simply clicks into place between the grids. 2 expansion joint units are used per grid or 4 per linear meter of expansion joint. The expansion joints are filled with gravel along with the grids once laid.
All projects both large and small require a 5cm expansion gap around the outer perimeter between the grids and the edging. Smaller projects, depending on the layout and installations under 10m in width may not require additional expansion joint units installed within the body of the grids, subject to the length of the installation. For these smaller projects, any thermal movement will be absorbed by the perimeter expansion gap.
